MONDAY RESET BRICS · HORMUZ · AI · FED

The weekend was not quiet: energy chokepoints still dominate inflation risk, BRICS is building a broader economic architecture, and frontier-AI leaders are openly discussing a slower development pace.

“Monday does not start with a signal. It starts with a hierarchy of risks.”
01 · Weekly open

MONDAY PLAYBOOK

Oil, yields and the dollar first. Everything else second.

FACT

What Friday left behind

Wall Street rebounded Friday and the US10Y pulled away from 5% after briefly approaching it. Brent ended around $104.5 after a week of heavy geopolitical premium. Gold rebounded, but the oil → inflation → Fed → yields channel remains active.

ORION SCENARIO

Monday reading order

1. Brent gap and Hormuz/Bab el-Mandeb headlines. 2. US10Y and DXY. 3. XAUUSD safe haven versus yield pressure. 4. Nasdaq confirmation. 5. BTC/XRP with cross-asset confirmation, not CLARITY alone.

02 · ECB

LAGARDE: ENERGY, LONG RATES AND AI RISK

A supply shock the ECB increasingly treats as persistent.

FACT

Inflation shock

Lagarde said euro-area inflation is 3.3% and linked the shock to the Middle East conflict and damaged global refining capacity. Her weekend argument was that a long-lasting supply shock cannot simply be looked through.

JAYU INTERPRETATION

AI is becoming a macro variable

Lagarde also pointed to AI financing needs as competition for sovereign debt capital and acknowledged the possibility of an AI-equity correction and circularity risk. That links AI capex directly to long-end yields and equity valuation.

Monday: the ECB schedule includes a Lagarde keynote in Vienna at 17:15 CET.
03 · Global South

BRICS BUILDS INFRASTRUCTURE

FACT

Greater BRICS

Xi promoted a BRICS AI Open Source Zone, special-economic-zone cooperation and stronger service-trade links.

MARKET DATA

De-escalation channel

The joint declaration included a call for regional de-escalation despite Gulf tensions.

JAYU INTERPRETATION

Market relevance

The long-run relevance is payments, supply chains and the dollar system; Monday's first-order driver remains energy and rates.

04 · Artificial Intelligence

FRONTIER AI LEADERS TAP THE BRAKES

FACT

Dario Amodei · Anthropic

Amodei called for a slower pace of capability improvement, permanent embedded third-party evaluators, coordination among democratic-country labs and eventual international coordination.

FACT

Sam Altman · OpenAI

Altman backed stronger pacing/safety coordination. OpenAI has separately committed to slowing or stopping development/deployment when safety risks are unacceptable; Reuters also reported that Altman ruled out a 2026 OpenAI IPO.

JAYU INTERPRETATION

Why markets should care

Frontier AI now touches capex, power demand, chips, credit issuance, sovereign yields, productivity and valuations. Safety pacing changes the sector's risk function; it is not an automatic Nasdaq signal.

05 · Trump / Geopolitics

ENERGY RISK REMAINS THE WEEKEND'S PRICE SETTER

FACT

Hormuz remains unresolved

Reuters reported another vessel attack on Sunday. An Iranian official also said Monday's Oman talks are not expected to deliver an immediate signed Hormuz agreement.

FACT

Trump and Saudi infrastructure

Trump said Iran was probably responsible for the attack on Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline, a route designed to bypass Hormuz for part of Saudi exports.

06 · Crypto regulation

CLARITY ACT: TUESDAY PROCEDURAL VOTE

FACT

Heavy lobbying

Reuters reports an intense fight between the crypto and banking industries ahead of the Sep 15 procedural vote.

ORION SCENARIO

XRP is sector-sensitive, not isolated

A procedural advance is constructive for digital assets, but Jayu requires BTC, rates and XRP structure to confirm. A failed vote can trigger sector repricing.
